Let's go surfing!

The big Tests fast approaching.
Find a website which will be helpful in preparing for the AP test on May 17.  Give the URL, a summary of the site, an an evaluation of what you think it will be helpful to others.  (5 points.)  I will also give 5 points extra if it is one that is not linked by the blog and if you are the first one to give it a review.  In addition, I will award another 5 points if I am struck by the depth and intelligence of the review.  Happy surfing- when we are finished we should have a terrific litany of useful sites.
Peace,
Mr. Parker

(nice review and quizzing) it's fun.
it pretty much gives you a hint of what place it's talkin' about in the map (it's timed) and you have to click on it. every map is a different time period or unit..
it kinda helps with geography skills as well as with reviewing the material we've been going over all year. i personally find it helpful, hope y'all enjoy it.

Crash course is a youtube channel that I stumbled across while watching My Little Pony and have been watching since.
Crash course, (youtube.com/user/crashcourse) is a series of world history lectures full of exciting animation, captivating language, handsome men, and intelligent humor.
The man who hosts the show obviously really knows what he's talking about. The lectures aren't fluff, but in depth looks at history. The best part is that they are actually fun to watch, so they're a nice study break without actually taking a study break.
My favorite of the series is the video on the fall of Rome. Here's a link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PszVWZNWVA&feature=relmfu
I mostly just like it for the Dr. Who reference.

http://quizlet.com/68574/ap-world-history-questions-flash-cards/

this site has a few resource such as flash card, a matching game practice quiz and other interactive activity to help teach you everything you may have forgotten or to test your memory of what we have learned.

i think this would be a good site because it covers a lot of what we learned from this year in MR Parkers awesome AP world history class. i think the interactive part of this will help it stick with people vs, just reading facts

This is a somewhat interactive website. It has plenty of information of people and places over a 3,000 year span. There are brief bios on important historical figures (like Genghis Khan!)if you need a refresher on who someone is. There are simple maps from all around the world that display migration and expansion patterns. It's a pretty easy website to navigate through (if you know what your doing!) as well.

This website has "AP" flash card sets as well as quizzes. When you click on the number of cards, the list is shown to study. Afterwards, when you think you are ready, you click on study deck where you given the chance to use "flashcards" to study. It shows how many questions you answered, average time when answering the question, etc. You manually choose which questions you got wrong. There's around 20 study decks with subjects like 1750-present to Slave trade.
I think this is a good site because it's like using actual flash cards and also because it has a couple of subjects we've gone over this year.

Along with Kayla,

http://universityhigh.webs.com/apreview.htm

This site helps reviewing everything we learned in Mr. Parker's class. It has information from gunpowder empires and trades routes to the Cold War and globalization. It has easy understanding points from all the units. The site has notecards, key dates, maps, and even games ! Check it out and have fun ! ;D

The site was created to help students review for the big Ap test. A Texas University teacher named Mr. Hjort designed it, along with other links that teachers have contributed.

Info Please is a great website full of information, maybe more then you will ever need. Here, you can find any country's history, not an extremely detailed presentation, but gives a summary stating the most notable historical events of each country. If your in need of a map of the region, head over to the atlas section to find one. Great website to review significant events of countries discussed during the course, any of them.

This website is basically a whole set of notes. It has unit notes, topic notes, outlines, study questions, and vocabulary. This is very helpful because the unit notes are split up into smaller categories that go into much more detail on the certain subject you chose. The study questions allow you to actually use what you learn and apply it. The vocabulary is the main words and ideas that describe the unit you are looking at. I think this website is extremely helpful because the notes condense the subject and unit. This helps you refresh your memory on the topics you don't remember clearly, so it's good to quickly look at and get good and useful information. The notes are easy to understand and simple, so you won't get confused and overloaded. This website is really helpful and a great resource for reviewing certain units or topics.

This website gives various helpfil tools, like timelines, stimulations, documents and other tools. It speaks about the time period of 'the origins' and 1000 BC, so we get a good review on what we learned way back in the year. It is helpful to go over things from the beginning on the year. It also gives more resources. Overall, it's a very helpful review tool.

This site gives brief explanations of 9 different eras, some of which that we have studied in class. It explains the main points and events that happened throughout the era. Also, it includes different geographical maps of different regions giving an explanation of the region. This is a pretty helpful site since it gives a short summary of different ideas and events that we've touched on. It's short and sweet. Hopefully it helps!

this webaite can be a very useful study tool. it provides outlines of each unit along with outlines of stearnes chapters. in adittion, this website includes maps from different time periods and specific parts of the world.it also has unit essay questions and multiple choice questions that you can study from. the most benificial part of this website would have to be the list of key terms for each unit. these words include and easy to understand definition. this may not be the funnest website, but going to study from it will provide you with tons of information.

I rate this like a 7 out of 10. It's cool because it has powerpoints for visual learners and regular course notes. It is separated by different sections and different places. It also has games and cute picture of baby animals all around it. Pretty adorable if you ask me.

This website is good to practice for the AP exam because it gives you a hans-on way to remember the material. Its super cool because its easy to understand, all you have to do is click what you want to learn on (or in this case review) and it pulls up a map and it pulls up all kinds of important points that we need to remember for for the tes. I highly recommend it :D

Don't judge it by its name! I'm one of those people who get distracted way to easily and i work better with interactive stuff that gets me interested, so this website proved to be very helpful to me. It not only has an online textbook which simplifies somthings since it is made for children (Kinda embarassing but very useful) and it also has games where you need to answer triva questions randomly throughout the game to move on. If you are also interested there are poems, songs, and quotes used to help remember the millions of facts hidden on this site. Happy studying and may the odds be so ever in your favor :)

This website has many quizzes that are helpful for the big test. Also, this website includes notes that are good to review before the AP test. This is a helpful resource because it is fun and it helps relieve stress because it is not just boring facts that is being reviewed.

The person I found interesting to learn about was Qin Shi Huang, he was the first emperor of the Qin dynasty. Qin Shi Huang lived from 259 BC- 210 BC, he ruled from 246-210 BC. During his reign he made 700,000 people build his mausoleum, however he told his general to get 300,000 soldiers to build him his tomb. An interesting fact about him is that he fathered about 50 children and he never named a single empress , although he had many woman in his life. When people starte to try to invade China, Qin Shi Huang ordered that they build a wall, building what we now know as The Great Wall of China, Barbarians who were trying to invade couldn't.
