May 14

The big day is fast approaching and because we all could use some help I'm giving Extra Credit for finding help.
For each website you find and review I'll give you five points. If it is one from which we all can benefit I'll kick it up to ten. Start surfing, I would start by googling "AP World History Review". Then tell us all what's out there. We'll do this one up to the day of the test.

http://www.flashcardexchange.com/flashcards/view/619279 *Okay, This is pretty basic, but it covers a lot of the material and simple vocab/people/dynasties or empires we may need to know, especially within the earlier dates.

http://www.advancedplacementhistory.com/World%20Notes.html *This site has some very condensed, but very good notes for the stearns chapters as well as a bit of condensed knowledge from the Princeton Review AP WH book. This could be helpful, especially as sometimes we can understand a concept if it is written differently.

http://testprep.sparknotes.com/testcenter/ap/worldhistory/ *Even sparknotes has a section to help us out on AP tests; It is in the form of a practice test, but unfortunately you have to have an account with them in order to utilize it, but it should not be too hard to create an account.

That's all for now.

Great Alyssa;
The first two are great and I theink the second one will be particularly useful. A great way to revisit the more obscure aspects of the course (What's a Gupta?) The third site is cumbersome and since it requires membership and passwords I prefer the easy access. You have earned 25 points! Way to Go!

Hey Mr. Parker...

So after searching through websites I came across:

http://wps.ablongman.com/long_stearns_wcap_4/18/4654/1191439.cw/index.html
this websites looks a bit complicated
but it is divided into chapters and it has practice questions like multiple choice and it includes flash cards.

http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072957549/student_view0/chapter1/..i

this one is also separated into chapters...this one summarizes in note form or paragraph for anyway you want....it gives you many tools as well...like interactive maps and stuff

ooohh...

and this one:

http://college.cengage.com/history/world/bulliet/earth_peoples/2e/students/ace/index.html

this one just has a list of practice tests you can take and stuff.

cool.

i hope some are helpful.

dunno if anyone's suggested this one, but it's got essay questions and practice quizzes. :D

Mr. Parker said...

Good ones Gabbby. The first one (ablong.com) is not letting me on. RRRRRRRRRRR! The second one,(McGraw hill.com) looks like a commercial sight. They want you to buy stuff. Perhaps you can walk me through this in the near future and show me the things you found on this site.
The third site is excellent. As a matter of fact it is the support site for the text book I hope to have next year! I like the maps and the chapters are organized along the lines of AP FRQs.
20 points and more if you can walk me through the McGraw-Hill site.
Good Work.

Mr. Parker said...

Courtney,
Alyssa already gave us that one. I'll give you two points for responding.
Peace.

Hey Parker! It's KATIE ROMANOLO.

I found these two great sites.

The first one is http://harmonhistory.com/apwh.html
and the second one is http://home.comcast.net/~mruland/WHAP/ExamReview/review.htm

They both have tons of good links and even outline important aspects of AP. The second one has cool flashcards and other stuff. Some parts of the second one are still in development, but what it has is really helpful. They work for me. Hope they work for you too :]

*this website is really good. You can download outlines of each of teh Stearn book chapters. You can also download documents that help you write and organize the essay.

http://www.slideshare.net/fasteddie/ap-world-history-review-1
*there are other presentations, but I didnt want to give the link to them all ^_^. I find that I'm more of a visual learner, so looking at teh pictures was very helpful to me. It helped me to look at teh pictures. I'm not sure if any other people will find this as useful as I did, but you should check it out!

*I dont know if this will open on your page lol. if not I'll show you at school. It is basically a review of what teh AP test is like and teh themes. It presents it in a very easy way to remember, and it helped me to organize teh thoughts in my mind O_O

http://www.randomhouse.com/princetonreview/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780375428982
*I would also suggest to everybody to buy one of these books or a Barrons book. They help MAJORLY with understanding the material because they condense it and also put quizes at teh end of each lesson. The answer key has explanations on why the answer is correct.

http://mbondlamberty.googlepages.com/apwhwebsite
*this website is okay...but you have to kind of pick through it to find useful information. But I would still go check it out because there are some interesting ways to learn the material.

http://www.mrmckee.com/APWorldHistoryReviewGames.html
*again, I am a visual learner. And this is for all of those out there who are like me lol. This is really cool because there are games and the games really help you win. and they are funny XD Who DOESNT want to enjoy themselves when they are studying? Check it out, and same with any one else who wants to have fun AND learn. I learned a lot of stuff that I never knew <3

http://www.reviewsheetscentral.com/?/rs/10/ap_world_history.htm
*this is a very handy website as well. It has an outline of teh AP course like Egypt and why it was special or important to history. It's not very in depth, but it is definitely worth referencing

http://www.hhhknights.com/apwh/Units.htm
*This is a useful study guide. it isnt very in depth, however if you fill this out after you finished reviewing the lesson then you will be set for teh exam

http://www.course-notes.org/World_History/Outlines/World_Civilizations_The_Global_Experience_4th_Edition_Outlines
*this has very nifty outlines of teh AP world history course. They are very nice and comprehensible. I think they are definitely worth checking out :D

http://www.course-notes.org/World_History/Outlines/The_Earth_and_Its_Peoples_4th_Edition_Outlines
*These are way in depth outlines for a book The Earth and It's Peoples. This is very handy (it does count as a seperate website, cuz I gave you the link to a different set of outlines) This is very handy because I like to study outlines. They are very organized. I also found that if you go through the stearns book and make outlines of teh chapters it's very handy in remembering stuff

http://worldhistoryconnected.press.uiuc.edu/
* this is super handy. They are like your lectures, but completely written down including maps.
Its worth checking up on.

http://physics.nist.gov/GenInt/Time/time.html
*this website may not be a AP world history themed website, but it has a lot of useful (and accurate) information about subjects such as ancient time keeping and the atomic age. This should be checked out if you want a more in depth descrition of a few AP World history related things.

http://witcombe.sbc.edu/ARTHLinks.html
*this website is dedicated to art through teh ages. This is useful if you are interested in learning about art and analyzing it. It helps me in particular to look at artwork, but check it out.

http://www.yale.edu/gsp/index.html
*we didnt get a chance to cover a lot of information about genocide. So if anyone is interested in learning more go to this link. It has a lot of interesting information.

http://www.egrps.org/~BStrickl/files/AP%20World%20History/For%20APWH%20Teachers/Review%20Activities/Must%20Know%20Dates.pdf
*a list of Must Know dates for AP World History. Very useful. and handy :)

http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/
*this site has EVERYTHING. movies sourcebooks. WOAH. so i would say that everyne should DEFINITELY check this out. okay? I know I've put a lot a websites up but I REALLY need teh extra credit. and I thought you could entertain yourself with my websites. So hold on a bit longer, k? I have a few more.

http://www.worldhistorycompass.com/index.htm#Top%20of%20Page
*this site is very specific and a but complicated. But if you want information on a certain subject or thing that took place in a certain place at a certain time I would reccomend it.

http://digicoll.library.wisc.edu/AfricaFocus/
*great link if you are interested in learning more about africa and its relations with teh world

AND!
ONE MORE!

http://www.isidore-of-seville.com/
*this is a great website with interesting info on ghengis kahn and stuff. Worth looking at for the most part

So Mr. Parker, Were those worth all of teh extra credit points?
I need them, and this literally took me like 2 hourse. The internet is so full of dumb information, its very hard to find something worthwhile and credible.
I hope you enjoyed it, even though it was rather long

PEACE OUT MR. PARKER!

hey mr. parker..

since you told us today that art history is part of the ap test i focused my research on what mr. yanowski said and what he didnt say..

http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/klimt/
this one is mainly about gustav klimt's idea of how the intellectual world happened.. this is in the late 19th century in vienna..as we know, vienna had been through a lot in those times (siege of vienna) and it might be interesting if we knew how the people there expressed themselves through art after what has happened..

http://www.spanisharts.com/reinasofia/picasso.htm
..this one gives us an expert interpretation of pablo picasso's works..from self expressionism to dramatism to making his own art..which is in picasso style..thise site will tell us of how picasso expressed the society during one of the darkest times..as you have told us the first bombing in the world..with this site..we can also learn how picasso "escaped" (as they call it) in the art of those times and turn to his own abstract art..

http://www.artlex.com/ArtLex/d/dada.html
this site is about dadaism and what incited the people in this time period to make art so random yet deep..it shows the works done and thier explanations..mr. yanowski showed us dadaism but i think this site will help us even more..

so there you have it..i hope i helped and i get the points..i need the A...later parker..

Great Work students. There were some real treasures in here.
KD- the first one had terrific links. The second one you gave me wouldn't let me in. 10 points for you.
Cortney- I need an account to get into that site. In any case it looks diagnostic. 5 points.
Gabby- the new link works and I reaslly like the interactive maps. Plus 5 points for you.
Becca- You have amazed me! The first one had a cool jeopardy that was fun. The second and third were interesting nut not super useful. The fourth is an ad for the Princeton Review. I made a link to the 5th- fantastic games and student made stuff. The sixth would not open for me. The seventh has review sheets that might be useful but sorta boring. Both 8 and nine ran errors on my computer. The tenth is text heavy. Number 11, 13 and 16 are quite interesting but probably not practical enough to be of use to us. The 12th is a cool art history link. I love it. 14 is dates and it isn't intertactive. 15 movie reviews 17 was tons of photos interesting. 18 would not open.

Whew! so I count 18- 14 of which work and 3 that are very useful. I'll give you 80 points because if I gave yoiu any more it would meke a farce of the point system in my class. Thanks.

Stan- these are art links and not useful. 6 points.

6 points?!..
can i get more from these?:

http://www.historyhaven.com/APWH/AP%20Test%20Review.htm
its a lot of reading but i has the main ideas of the 5 units we studied..

http://apeuro.20m.com/Ch28c.htm
this one is really good..it will help.it has a multiple question review test about european stuff and if you get the right answer you should get a smiley face and if not an "x" mark..choose the ""The Cold War and a New Europe, 1945-1970 "" link first..

and to take the pressure off everyone's brains..check this one out..its martin luther's rap from the movie "luther"

OK-
For the record the whole concept of getting extra credit points for reviewing sites is for yiou to review the site. Tus the practice of giving me a long list of URLs with very little information on them is not deserving of very many points. In any case it is becoming difficult to find original useful ones because at this point there have been so many submitted.
Stan- Of the 3 you gave the first loooks boring and I wouldn't recommend it. The second is wierd and is from APEuro not World and it does not link properly on my computer. The third is blocked by webSense. I'll give you 5 points.
Mariah- The first of yours requires registration so we won't use it. The second is excellent- Quizlet! I made a link. 10 points for you.
Jaymi- THe first is OK but it does not link to answers to the questions. I coould not open the second and the third was blocked by websense. The fourth is interesting but not of much practical use to the class. You did not review these sites. 4 points for Jaymi with an I.
Tony 16 sites with no reviews. The first is a list of books and is of no use whatsoever. I could not open the 2nd nor the 4th. The Fifth costs $8 but it might be worth it. The sixth lists 1200+ words somewhat useful. The seventh was blocked. The Eighth was a treasure trove of useful stuff-especially powerpoints- but may blocked. 9 and 10 would not open for me. 11, 12,16, 15 and 13 are mostly civil rights site specific to American history and thertefore of limited value to us. 15 would not open. So although there were some excellent sites, the lack of review and the mnay non functioners mean that I am only giving you 8 points.
