1.my favorite unit from the class is the one spanning from 1914-2011.I think this because recent history is talked about and that too me seems more interesting and more down home. this unit covers both wrld wars and the depression not only Americas but germanys as well as many others.
2. the most important theme i think is the peoples and places. i think this only because with out peoples than the world would not be anything. Also the effect of them impacted the world greatly.
3. the most important thing for the student from next year too know is do your redlines!! I cannot stress doing those enough only because there are a very useful tool to have on hand at all times.Another useful thing for the class is reading obviously cant get far in the class without reading so do your homework.Finally and most important do the essays he assigns even if you know it isnt your best work turn it in too see where improvment is needed. Parker is willing to help all those who want help.

My personal favorite time period was the neolithic revolution which happens to be the first unit and also maritime exploration. All these cover the main themes and set it up for the new units that come after these two. During these time periods the major civilization that played a major role in the development of the world arose such as the Americas, and many more.
The most important thing well not wars or people because they don't matter as much but the effects those people and wars had. For example WWI set the stage for the depression of the global economy the downfall of the ottoman empire setting up a new country, and most devastating WWI caused WWII, because Germany fell to a depression and out arose Hitler who promised land and a better economy leading to the war. But don't go into extent memorizing names of people and when they were born but rather what they did and who that changed society, politics and the economy. (note, sometimes if it is a redline know the person as they are important IE Gandhi who led the salt march, Carl Marx author of communism manifesto very important in later units)
The absolute most important thing to do is to READ that might sound like duh but trust me, its needed. The sections are around 20 pages for at least this year and they cover alot. So please please read the darn book. At first you might do it but then eventually like everyone that I know you will just stop reading, missing out on all the information.
After all its a wonderful book.

1)to be honest i don't really have a favorite unit, its more like i like specific events in each one.
my favorite would have to be WWI and WWII ^ ^

1.My favorite unit is the last one (1914-2011) becuase it is more recent and most of us no people who have witnessed some of the things that happened in this unit. It is easiest for me to learn about becuase you can see the effects of the major events still in play today.
2. I think the ,most inportant AP theme is the social changes. It is neccessary to see how things were socialy and how they changed because that is what effects us on an idvidual level. Not to say that the others aren't important, but we can see and experience (or imagine what they would be like)the social changes on a more personal level.
3. Most important advice for next years students is probally not to procrastinate! It may seem like a good idea to push off homework until the last possible day, but trust me its not. You have to work for an A in this class, but if you really want it you can achieve it. YOu just have to read, listen to the lectures, take notes, and do the homework. Another good tip is when your writing your essays, be sure to stay on topic. It may seem like a good idea to stuff as much info in to it as possible, but it just gives you a bad score.

My favorite unit would have to be the last one. Its spans from 1914 to 2011. This unit is the best in my most humble opinion because it helps us connect more to history. It gives us the opportunity to learn more about whats going on right at this moment or about events the happened not to long ago. I think this unit provides us with a more accurate picture of our history because the events are something we have already encountered before.
I'd have to say that all of the themes are important in their own ways. They all contribute important information that help understand history more. However, if forced to chose I would say the most important one would be the one about people, cultures, and their societies. This is because people form cultures which in turn form societies which end up contributing to crucial benefits to the world.
If you are a future ap world history student my advice to you consists of three things. First read. In order to survive in this class you NEED to read or else you will end up struggling throughout all of it. Second, do your essays. This bit of info will come in handy. Not only will the essays give you experience for the ap test but they are also big factors of your grade. Third and last whatever you do DO NOT procrastinate. I know you think at the time its a good idea but really it isnt. You still have to complete the assignment in the end and also you will not get as good a score as you could have if you had done it earlier. Thats it!!! Wait, ooops I lied. There is one more thing that will help you in your journey:) through ap... that is Mr. Parker's songs. They are the next best thing to studying so memorize them. Well that really is it! Have fun!! Dear students of Mr. parker’s up coming AP W.H. :
There’s many things you need to now if you want to be successful in Mr. Parker’s class, but first the first, Mr. Parker looks like he’s mean snd grumpy but actually he’s a very good teacher and I think you will like him as much as I do because he teaches you so much stuff that will help you in the future. There are many units Mr. parker covered with my class which were (5000 BCE-600, 600-1450, 1450-1750, 1750-1914, 1914-2011). All the units were really fun and I think I couldn't choose one I didn’t like the best because like I said Mr. Parker made class so fun and I still remember everything he teached to me. Also every theme of AP World History is really important if you want to pass the class and of course get a good grade, Oh and I mean every theme. The information you need from me is to do your Home Work because if you don’t, you will loose a bunch of information which is important and you will need. Another thing is to study a bunch so you can pass the Exams or Tests because if you don’t pass the Exams you don’t pass the class. Also I want to tell you that if you do all this things is that you will get a good grade, oh and if you don’t then you wont. Finally when you don’t do your home work, Mr. Parker gets very angry that he will give you a Saturday School or even worst torture you till you die, oops didn’t meant to say that oh well have a good year you all and don’t worry he’s a great and I mean a great teacher.

1)Ny favorite time period has to be the recent one. y? because you cant believe these things happend only 100 years ago.. or less! its amazing what happened before u and i were born and how hard our human race worked to get where it now is.
2)I believe the most important thing is women and there rights. women have been call and considered inferior and now u see how slowly everything came to change and grow.
3) the most important thing.... EVERYTHING.. lol no.. seriously. heres some guide lines:
a)read the whole assigned pages
b)do the redlines and learn them
c)work hard no getting lazy
d)try ur best to understand
e)ask all and every question u can think of.. no matter how stupid, parker will make it seem so important so do it.
f)keep work neat and organized.. u never noe when ull need that one notes page talking about a hugly inmportant event
g)take his singing and songs seriously u never noe when they might provide the awsners for a test ;)
h)his test are hard and difficult.. believe me we DO noe. try ur best
i)the essays will make sense the more u write them
j)dont make him repet himself.. u dont wanna noe what happens so dont text or talk it wastes time
k)dont be scared. its a great class if u make it that way.

1) Well, I suppose my favorite unit was unit three (1450- 1750) as well as the unit starting from 1914-1750. From 1450 to 1750 I enjoyed learning about the dicovery of the Americas and the social changes of the Natives, since the Europeans conquered them. Also, I like the most recent unit(1914 to 2011) because it is more well known. For example this unit talked about world war I and II. It was also interesting learning more about Hitler...
2) I believe that the most important theme was socially, because social structure has changed dramatically over the years...
3) Future AP students, you are very brave to be taking AP World History, let me tell you it is kind of hard, well at least for me it was. Some people may struggle more than others, but as long as you do everything Mr. Parker requires you to do, then you'll be okay. In order for students to pass the class, the text book is KEY.
TIP: ALWAYS READ THE PAGES ASSIGNED FOR tHE NIGHT. =)

1. My favorite unit from the class is 1450-1750. I think that this is a significant time in history because the catholic church stops controling everything, the americas are discovered, the columbian exchange happens, european colonization of the new world, and the serious slave trade begins.
2. I think that the most important theme is social changes. I belive this for one reason because the ap book centers itself on this theme and it is important how people change to adapt to the world around them.
3. The most important thing for an incoming student is DO THE RED LINES AND READ THE BOOK! It will help you with the essays, the test, and the quizes every day will not destroy your mind.
1. My favorite unit is 1914-2011 because it covers events that took place not that long ago. The unit talks a lot about the world wars and in my opinion is easier to remember.
2. The most significant theme for me is technology,economics, and demography because they greatly affect the world. Technology is improving everyday throughout the world and economy is constantly rising and decreasing.
3. The most important thing for students next year is to read the book and take notes. Also, listen to the lectures online because they have useful information. It is very helpful for quizes if you know your red lines an ID's. Good luck :)
1. my favorite unit would have to be ...1914-present because i know so much about it already! Except now we are going back and relearning it but instead of learning about battles and all the little things we learn about the actual reason for the wars and the aftermath it left on society. I like trying to figure out what caused certain events in history and how they repeated or could have been prevented. This unit occurred in the last 100 years so the subject matter is more real to me and less foreign.
2. The most important theme in AP world history (although all are interesting) i am partial to woman's status. Not only do woman play a big role in all societies even though they are treated inferior but their role changes dramatically throughout history. It is very intriguing for me to analyze these social changes and how they affected different cultures.
Okay now the FUN part..
HEY all you freshman! It seems not to long ago i was in your shoes...walking into room 104 for the first time it is scary yet exciting. I remember being overwhelmed by all the summer homework (homework during SUMMER WHAT?!?) and being totally stoked to be given a challenge! There are many things you can do to be sucessful in Parker's class for one you must READ and do your REDLINES!!! Also, always be very organized do not lose your redlines half way through keep them in one place, i have learned that not being organized will make you fall behind fast. Another tip coming from a note taking lover like myself, take extensive notes whatever parker says write it down, especially if he says, "for your notes." Its his his way of saying THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT Parker knows whats on his unit tests and the AP test don't think you can scrap by, by doing the minimum or just listening and thinking you will retain everything that is said *COUGH* *COUGH PATRICK! My last piece of advice...Have fun! This class is only as hard as you make it there are sometimes you need to keep really focused but always remember to enjoy yourself and don't take this class for granted.

1) my personal favorite unit would have to be the time of 1914- to present; the reason is, I think that learning about recent experiences is easier to understand because we have more current perspective on it.
2) I think the most important theme of AP World History is social change. To me, it seems like the domino effect: one things causes everything to change.
3)For all of the upcoming AP students.. You should not only just do your homework, but, try and obsorb all information you can, as in outside information. As in watching the news, reading, history channel, etc.. you never know when you'll need some outside information

1) hm.. I must say that my Favorite Unit was the long 18th century (bout 1770 to 1914) because of all of the immence change and the birth of what we are today.
2)Social because of how societies changed into the great world we are in today with more rights and stuff
3)Make sure you read! (or just do redlines) and stearns are gonna be boring so warning you all there. But if you work hard enough you will be half a year ahead of everyone else in college :D and you get a pat on the back by parker(maybe)
My favorite unit was unit 2. I liked this unit because it envolved different interesting empires like the Song, Yuan, and Mali empire. It was interesting learning about life in the past and in different places. I think the most important theme was social changes. it was cool to see how, socially, things changed. women's rights was a cool thing to change for the better.
So if your takeing ap wh next year...........................................................GOOD LUCK. My advice is dont slack off and dont procrastinate. Every point counts so dont miss any assignments. Do tour hw and readings and you'll be fine.Have fun with it and it will go by faster.

I think the most important theme was interaction among societies. I strongly believe this because if you know how societies interact you will know the cause and effects of many events. The interaction among societies also brought many changes for women, education and technology.
My advice for you new AP students would be complete all your work on time. One thing that will help you in the long run is not only doing your red lines and Id's but taking notes oint the reading that is the only way to ace the Test.

Hello incoming freshmen.I think my favorit unit is the unit spanig from 1914-present day.I chose this unit because it contained both great wars and is most revevent to my life today.(unit 1is a close second)
the mostimportant theam is people and places.learning about these past sociaties and there people in depth is what sets this class apart from the regular history class
I would have to say the most important thing in the class comes down to two things. Reading and notes. Be shure to do the reading for each night.not only is the reading important for the next days quiz but also for the unit test and finaly the ap exam. But. All the reading didn't help if you forget it. So be shure to devise some sort of note system to record all of the information you have Lerner

Well i have to say that my favorite unit of this class was 5000 B.C.E-600 or even 600-1450because the times seem somewhat peaceful. I dont think that someone back in those days would even consider declaring a world war -_-
I think the most important theme of world history is the impact of interaction among major societies. I think that every continent has been influenced at least a little bit by another part of the world. For example, why people speak spanish in south america.
Next year, do your redlines! and actually read the AP book! and pay attention in class.....dont just stare at mr parkers beard...

1.) I have to say that my favorite unit is 1914-Present Day because I loved learning about the two world wars. I had absolutely little to no knowledge about the two world wars until we learned it in this class. I was fascinated by the effects and the changes the world wars caused.
2.) I think that the impact of interaction among major societies is the most important theme of World History because it shows and explains how interactions between societies cause major change for the future.
3.) The most important thing to do for APWH is to read the textbook, take notes, and fill out the redlines because they have the most important information for the AP exam.

1. Okay, so my personal favorite unit was unit five; 1949- present day. This was my favorite unit because we learned about things I am familiar with, so it was easier to understand. Oooh and also because we learn about the two world wars, which was very fascinating, but sad as well :/
2. Hmm…after much thought, I think the most important theme in world history is social change. This is basically what the whole book focuses on
(how people adapt to their surroundings and how people interact with one another) so to me, it is the most important.
3. My advice to all of you is to pay attention to Mr. Parker’s lectures!!! And take good notes! Also, don’t feel overwhelmed by all the reading. Just do it!
It will help TREMENDOUSLY so that you won’t feel totally lost the next day in class. And if you guys ever need advice, feel free to ask any of us :)

Fuuuture Ap student:
1) We've covered almost 7000 years (ohkay, maybe closer to 3000)of quality world events and happenings, but my favourite unit would have to be 1914-2011.It's not that i detested any of those ancient regimes, nor did i not find past societies uninteresting because they weren't. I think it all comes down to how much the information in our final unit could be used in our current day. And when i say this, i mean how knowing a brief amount about both World Wars and Soviet Russia and Communism and Global economics, just makes everything clearer. Communism-based cartoons seem a little bit funnier, and the news makes a little more sense. Also, I can now have an input in conversations with like my relatives and such. I wish I could retake this class, going through the units backwards.
2)Social changes would definitely be the most important theme, or at least in the last four hundred years which we've studied. It seems like no matter how good or bad things were rolling in a society, somebody somewhere felt like things(the situation) could be better, improved.That person would provoke others to agree, and soon, a whole ever-expanding group would join up with a protesting idea(ex: equal rights for men and later women, equality in the law, slavery, voting, tolerance of religion). And even to this day, we're trying so hard to fight for equality and justice and freedom. Soon, we're going to run out of things. I guess us fighting for Social Changes is what makes us different than animals, and maybe that's why it's been a them throughout history.
3) Like all these posts have stated before, procrastination is your worst enemy in this class. it's so easy to wait to do your homework until 10 or 11pm, and then you realize the reading that night is particularly long, or even worse, you have Stearns!
Look at your homework in advance, and calculate the number of pages per night, so you can budget your afternoon time wisely. Also, GOOD NOTETAKING IS A MUST. This class will surely change your note habits and skills.
+Purchasing a BArron book is also helpful, and taking the pre-tests in the back( and then reading about the answers) help you pick up on a bunch of stray information which so easily slips our minds. yahhhhh
