I believe that the most significant event between 1450 and 1750 was the the discovery of the Americas. I believe this because it brought on whole changes in demographics with the movement of europeans to North and South America. It also brought slavery to the Americas and by 1750 there were over 12 million slaves in the Americas. It brought new foods to Europe that grew better and became food staples during the Columbian Exchange. Also in Latin America it was the end of empires, when the Spaniards invaided and because of that the Aztec and Inca empires were wipped out. More may come on this topic but for now I need to leave.

I am confident that the gunpowder empires were the most important in 1450-1750 because the development of these gunpowder empires, (Ottomans,Safavids, Muhgals, Ming, Qing, and the Russian Empire) counterbalanced the european power and colonization. Before, They weren't able to get around nomads, but since nomads had less access to guns they were finally able to conquer them. It helped them conquer many lands and ultimately expand.

The most important event between 1450 and 1750 was the expansion of Russia by Peter the Great. When Peter the Great decided to expand the borders of Russia for the benefit of is great country, it was the start of the largest country in the world and what would eventually turn into a powerful nuclear country. The expansion was the start of world-wide westernization, and set a trend that other countries, such as Arabia, would follow. It boosted Russia's economy and put its name out there as a powerful gunpowder empire.

This has already been stated and I agree that the recognition of the Americas was one of the most significant events during the period 1450-1750. The Americas provided a new trading system that affected the whole world. There was exchange in resources, religion, and slaves. The world would also learn about voyages that went around the world and found new paths, or shorter ways to their destinations. This opened a new world wide center of communications. There was also a change in long-distance trade.

Ello Mr. Parker! this will be my third time writing my comment due to the mac lab....

well,i have to agree with Emilie, that the rise of the gunpowder empires count as something significant but! I have to say that the Ottomans were the best....they just took over Constantinople and did what they wanted by taking little Christian kids and turned them into jannisaries for their very own army....nothing was more intense than that other than the slave trade and wide spread diseases that came from Europe to the Americas.I find them to be very significant during this time.

Just like two of my other peers I as well agree that the most significant event between the times of 1450-1750 was deffinitely the great dicoverment of the New World. Right after Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492 many changes began to occur such as;demographically, in Europe due to the great abundance of food that was brought from the Columbian Exchange the population increased and so did the life expectancy of people. In America it was the other way around, the population of natives decreased due to the so many deseases that were brought by the European explorers. For example, Tenochitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire, had a population of at least a million people, but after the arrival of Hernan Cortes the population had decreased to 300,000 people. Politically, with the arrival of the Europeans Americas Great Civilizations were rapidly overthrown; in North America the Aztec Empire, in Central America The Maya Empire, and in South America The Inca Empire. For the Europeans this was very beneficial because now they could settle their own territories and no longer be the small kingdoms that they were in Europe. The Spanish settled many Viceroyalty's and so did Portugal, while the British settled thier own colonies. Economically, with the settling of territories in America came plantations and mines that brought riches and goods into Europe and missery to the Natives of the land. Trade grew and with it the Columbian Exchange, it was all a cycle, the british would trade wepons and othe things of value with Africa, they would trade slaves with America, and America would exchange crops, silver, cotton, and tabbacco for the slaves. So much interaction between the New and the Old Worlds incouraged interaction of ideas and changes that affected the life style of people. The hole world by the 1700's had a taste of what America was like, they no longer waited for tea time but for chocolate time. As time went by people made great migrations due to the increase of population in europe, looking for a new beggining in the new world.

i think the most significant evnt between 1450 and 1750 was the Atlantic Ocean Trade. i think this because it led to the crossing of the Pacific ocean which made changes in trade, technology, global interactions, slave trade and systems, demography and the enviroment. in trade the trade routes changed with the new maritime technology and the global patterns changed dramatically. with the new global trade patterns new things were intoduced to different places. During this time slave trade and slave systems were very important to the Atlantic Ocean Trade. Demographically it changed because of the new migration patterns. Enviromentaly it changed because of the new trade patterns diet, animals, and plant changes occured.

I believe that the most significant event throughout 1450-1750 and the Age of Exploration was the Columbian exchange. As Columbus discovered America and Europe discovered the various economic opportunities available in the New World the agricultural exchanges through the two worlds led to other exchanges. The trade routes discovered throughout this area were known as the Great Circuits, which connected four continents: North America, South America, Europe and Africa. Not only did they connect to those four continents but they also connected to old water trade routes established in previous eras. From Europe to the Americas: horse, cows, pigs, wheat, barley, grapes, sugar cane and melons were generally traded. From Africa to the Americas: bananas, coconut palms, coffee, sugar cane, goats and chickens were often traded. From the Americas to both Europe and Africa: corn, potatoes, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, squash, beans, pineapples, peppers, tobacco, and chocolate were traded. The early Spanish conquistadors also brought the horse, gunpowder and slaves to work on plantations to America. One major thing they brought was the Catholic Christian Church which later on developed missions such as St. Augustine, San Diego and San Antonio. These products not only changed and bettered diets but also helped work habits around the world. But, one negative thing about the Columbian exchange was the devastating diseases that it brought to the Americas. Not only did the Columbian exchange bring livestock, food and diseases but also it brought ideas such as liberty, corporate structure and ecology. So as you can see the Columbian exchange changed the world drastically in many significant ways.

In My opinion the most significant event which occured during 1450 to 1750 would be the dicovery of the Americas in 1492 by Chrisopher columbus. For one, the discovery of the Americas started the columbian exchange. which started a widespread exchange of animals, foods, diseases and ideas between the new and the old worlds. A veriaty of new animals and crops that are very important between the both worlds today and back then like cows, chikens, horses, oat, and rice(Big One) to the new world as turkey, beans, cocoa, corn(also a big one!)and tobbaco(also also a big one! They were important because like corn its possible to make a lot of it in a short time and can feed lots of people. Rice is another big one because even though its hard to grow it was very good for ones diet at the time and is very demanded. Tobbaco was not really needed(like to eat it because well its meant for smoking it and would probably kill you if you tried to live off tobbaco!) but it was very wanted at the time like it is today and it was more like a profit making type of crop that you dont eat but smoke.(Because really you really think that a farmer lets say from china would acutually grow tobbaco just so he could smoke it all! wasting time his time for things he could really need like you know FOOD!!) Another example of a crop that is used not for eating but for profit would be cotton. Another big thing that was transfered between both worlds was disease which effected the demographic structure in the two worlds. Sadly it was mostly south america that took the worst from the diseases like bubonic plague, chiken pox, influenza, malaria and so on which declined the pre-columbian population by an estimated 60 to 85 percent. Old world only suffured minorly with the diseases like syphilis and hepatitis. As i can go on hours typing which I think i already started I would rather just explain the rest persia style.Politically, the discovery of the new world gave the old world new land to be ruled. like the spaniards for one after destroying the incas got a lot of places to own and rule same as portugese. well come to think of it portugese at least was able to keep their land over time and in the end turn it into a country I think they call it brazil. O And of course North america Just look at the english. after getting beaten of their land the people that ruled it made it into a very politically great country what did they call it again o yeah! The UNITED STATES!!!YEAAHH!!!Economically,Well like I already explained Lots of crops and animals were brought between the two worlds.Socially, well im not sure if I could explain this one verbaly and my hands are tired from typing but ill try my best It would be the the mix of genes and the introduction of new classes that were introduced with the spaniards arrival because well the precolumbian people were though more useless as blacks at the time because well black were more stronger than them and one can get more faster through capturing and trading wich were more needed in europe and people can get slaves closer from africa than one can from the americas. So one example of a social class would be slaves which were used to work in farms and mines and as servants.Intellecutually lots of things espicially math because heres a big one that im just going to lay out Boom! the Zero which was inveted by the mayans heres another one Boom! A Very accurate calender! You think Islam could have ever made anything more andvanced in astrology and math better than what mayans discovered I DONT THINK SO! And to Rap it all up Artistically well from one can guess ideas for art making could have passed on through one another like pottery making. So yes I Belive in opinion that this is the most significant event that happened at the time.

The most significant event during the 1450-1750 would be the year 1517, the moment when Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses to the church door at Wittenberg, accusing the Roman Catholic church of heresy upon heresy. This is known as the primary catalyst for the Protestant Reformation, a Christian reform movement. The publication of Martin Luther's The Ninety-Five Theses, changed the course of Western civilization.
In The Ninety-Five Theses, Luther expressed his intolerance for the Roman Catholic Church and attacks pardon-merchants due to the acts of friar Johann Tetzel, who gave people the impression that they could buy their way into heaven. He strongly objected to the way of the pope's indulgence, a forgiveness of the punishment due for past sins, granted by church authorities as a reward for a pious act. He strongly believed that only God could remit guilt and that indulgences could only excuse the penalties imposed by the church. His theology challenged the pope of the Roman Catholic Church by teaching that the Bible is the only source of knowlegde.
Luther's defiant words led to a revolutionary change in Christian religion. The Ninety-Five Theses gained enormous popularity over time. Luther's ideas had extended effect with people regardless of their class, status, or wealth, even thought they were living in a time when such concepts were crucial to social order. With Luther's use of the printing press to promote his ideas, won him the support from powerful Germans and led many Europeans to stop accepting the pope as head of the united Church. Before long, his 95 Theses had been copied and published all across Europe.
Today Roman Catholics and Lutherans have resolved many of the theological problems that Martin Luther posed, but in the sixteenth century reconciliation seemed impossible.

I think that the most important thing between 1450 and 1750 was the Columbian Exchange and the Atlantic Slave Trade. The Columbian Exchange brought foods, plants, and animals from the Old World to the New World and vice versa. These new things helped the New World prosper and introduced some new items to the Old World. Unfortunatly, this brought many diesease to the New World that killed many of it's inhabitants. The Atlantic Slave Trade, brought economic gain to all involved. Europe would buy Africans from African nobles or kings and sen them awya to become slaves. Most of the slaves went to the Americas and were used for free labor, thus making the Americas money. Then the Americas traded with Europe, and Europe grew economically.

I think the most significant event that happened during the years 1450-1750 was the expansion of the Russian empire. Russia expanded all the way from eastern Europe to the Pacific Coast. because of this, they ended up having some problems with their Chinese border and Mongol attacks. Luckily. Peter the Great came round bringing many great ideas with him. He was deterined to modernize and expand Russia to great extents. A big plan of his was Westernization. To fullfill his plans, Peter created many reforms to benifit Russia. Some of these reforms were:
*Military Reform-A better army and nazy was built. It offered better pay and allowed peasants to join and be trained.
*Building The Infrastructure-Peasants were used to build roads that would benefit many, especially the army.
*Expansion Of Territory-Territory was gained along the Baltic Sea and made atempts at the Black sea. ( they were defeted in this battle by the Ottamans)
*Reorganization Of the Bureaucracy-table of Ranks were used to controll the taxing of citizens. The money was used to pay for the new empire improvements.
*Relocation of the Capital-The empire was moved from Moscow to St. Petersburg.

Well, this is some of the many reasons the expansion of Russia was a very important time in history.

I believe the most important event that occured between 1450 and 1750 was the discovery of the Americas. The discovery of the New World was significant because it led to so many changes throughout the world. First of all, it led to the destructions of whole civilizations and cultures like those of the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans. When the Europeans first began to arrive to the New World they not only discovered thriving societies of indigenous people but also new neverbefore seen food and plants. Soon after the first contacts between the New World and the Old World the establishment of trade routes and networks. For example, the Atlantic trade Triangle and the Columbian exchange became a big part of both worlds. Through the establishment of these networks the New and Old worlds were able to exchange knowledge and other things such as food that changed the staople diets of both worlds. Another thing the discovery of the Americas began was the establishment of slave trade. Slavery had already existed before but not to the extent the happened between the New and Old Worlds. So as it is clearly noted the discovery of the Americas was a major event between 1450 and 1750.

Actually the most important thing was not the discovery of America but all the other maritime exploration before. Has everyone forgotten about the magical voyages of a certain eunuch who not only opened China but also created a new social system in china. And how about the person that history has forgotten, Ferdinand Magellan, who was the first person to sail around the world unfortunately he was killed in the Philippines. This later lead to a new trade system that was added to the already existing system. And a map of the world was able to be generated from this first exploration and later lead to more explorations. Not only that but the expansion of Russia also posted a great difference in the modern world and the old world. Russia was able to gain power and make new customs and a new social order for Russia.

The most significant event between 1450 and 1750 has got to be the explorations in the Americas. On account of the expeditions, Western Europe and the Americas were altered economically and politically beacuse of the Atlantic Slave trade and the Columbian exchange. Christopher's voyage was a significant time of imperialism between evolving nations. The Atlantic slave trade changed the demographics and economical stability of Africa. Also, during the columbian exchange numerous palnts, animals, and diseases were introduced to different continents..... so yeah that was pretty important :P

I believe the most significant event from 1450 to 1750 is the trade with the americas. I believe that this event is the most significnt because through the trade they got europe hardeware, guns, and indian cotton. The second most important to me is the middle passage that carried slaves to the new world. The final thing that seemed to stand out was the plantation goods from the europe to the colonies, but unfortanatly the ships would not always mke it and the colonies would lose alot of money. those are the most importants events to me.

I believe the most importnt event that occured between 1450-1750 is the birth of William Shakespeare. That being said, Shakespeare is said to have been the greatest writer in English history. Shakespeare's most known work was produced from 1589 and 1613, and even though he passed away in 1616, his is still the respected poet and playwrighter that he was. Now in the twentieth first century his plays are repeatedly adopted into movies and plays all over the world and constantly studied, reinterpreted in diverse cultural and political contexts throughout the world.

The most important thing to happen in the world is probably the discovery and european use of the americas. It changed the way many europeans live and rule, the columbian exchange or trade of the americas changed the eastern hemisphere, or well whatever the western europeans ruled. The native americans lives and land was changed forever by the european settlers. And the european rule and decent on the people of america who made the world it is today. Spanish/ Portugese ruled the south and French, Spanish, and British ruled the North of America. This changed all of americas demographics and most of europes which affected the rest of the world.

I belive that the discovery of the New World in 1492 by Christopher Columbus was the most significant event around 1450 to 1750 because this caused many changes in the world. First of all, it led to the greatly decrease of the Indian population due to the deseases that the Europeans brought to the Americas. This made the Europeans look for slaves in another country which in the end it turned out to be Africa, bacause of this, many Africans were send to Europe as slaves to do the worst jobs people could have done. Second of all, the discovery of the Americas also made the diet of the world to change because of new products going in and out the America, Africa, and Europe(the Atlantic Trade). This also made people in Europe to have a longer life because of all the healthy food they were introduced to. Last but not least, the finding of America, introduced new and different races in Europe and especially in AMERICA.

I believe there were MANY important events in the time period between 1450 and 1750, but the most important event,in my opinion, was the discovery of the Americas. Although the discovery of this "new world" was a complete mistake, Europeans benefited greatly from this new continent. They had a bunch of more land to do whatever they wanted to (considering that they had no respect for the Native Americans that were already here). they grew tobacco and sugar canes which brought them a lot of money. this was probably the most important thing for Europeans at that time(to make money), but the most significant thing about this great discovery was the migration. If this land would of not been discovered, the United States would not exist as a country full of different people who all migrated here for the better life this country promises :)

I think that the discovery of the americas was the most signifigant event that happened between he yars of 1450-1750. The discovery initiated widespread between the indigenous Americans and other parts of the world. This discovery also gave them a new trade route to use so they didn't have to go on such a long distance to get to their destination.

The most significant event in the world between the years of 1450and 1750 were the gunpowder empires because they changed the balance of power. I say this because when they got access to the guns they were able to conquer many lands and expand more. One of the greatest empires was the Ottoman, which did what it pleased. In total there were about 6 gunpowder empires all led by great people, who led their empires to expand even more. inconclusion that's why the most significant event in the world between the years of 1450 and 1750 were the gunpowder empires.

In my opinion the most significant event from 1450 to 1750 was the discovery of the Americas. I think this because it not only developed many new transformations in the new world, it also affected the old world. New crops, animals, and new ways of hunting were introduced. The horse was brought to the new world and helped with hunting and farming. The Europeans also brought over many African slaves to the Americas from the Atlantic slave trade. The Spanish became the first to hold colonial power in the Americas.

Between the years 1450 and 1750, the most significant event was the expansion of Russia by Peter the Great. With him ruling, Russia became less isolated and more westernized. The empire expanded from eastern Europe across Asia and into North America. Impacts were demographic and political structure changes. Political structure became like feudalism and slaves became serfs.

In my opinion, the most significant event during 1450 to 1750 was the conquest of the Natives. This was also very important because it brought many changes. For example, the Europeans conquered the Natives and made them work in plantations; like the sugar. Later on, diseases started coming up, in which the Natives had no immunity on, sooo, Europeans eventually switched to the African slaves. In other words, the discovery of the Americas was the most significant during 1450 to 1750...

i think the most important event was the spanish inquisition,"BECAUSE NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISION!!!!" not just because it was in montypython but because it enforced the values of catholic orthodox in all spanish kingdoms. Wich many vie as the primary shift that defined chatholic orthodox from other christian and papal views .this made spanish mishionaries "crack dat wip" and enforce spanish values evereywhere from florida to the phillipians. evidance of the inquisiton can be seen in the arcitektur and religios beliefs all around the world.

I've been contemplating that the Fall of Constantinople, in 1453, sprung this whole domino affect on the then-present world.

The Byzantine Empire was great and all, but after the Fourth Crusade and the 100 years War and all that intimidation from surrounding forces, the "2nd Rome" was losing it's glisten.

So Sultan Mehmet II steps in and surrounds and conquers Constantinople. He understood it's strategic position(trade wise and with close landroute to Asia),and with a few government revisions, BAMM- out popped the capitol/foundation for the Ottoman Empire.

So, Constantinople being the "2nd Rome" and all, they had accumulated all these sacred texts and philosophical works from Ancient Greece and Rome. But when the Turks came to town, some devoted scholars/priests chose to shift those over to Italy. This movement and access to older works attributed to the Renaissance .

and also, the Ottomans were pretty Muslim. They were quite tolerant of Christian religions(at least under Mehmet II), but they were still Muslim. Those Christian Europeans tried to avoid crossing their paths when it came to trading with Asia(The East). So what could they do? They sailed West to get to the East! Such promoting expeditions by Columbus and Magellan, and thus the founding of the New World.

So, yes, the Fall of Constantinople produced this rippling affect that altered the world .

i strongly believe that the most significant event between 1450 and 1750 is african slave trade. Before the Atlantic slave trade began, slavery took many forms in Africa, ranging from peasants trying to work off debts to those that were treated as property. The Atlantic trade profited from the trade allowed slaveholders both in Africa and the Americas to intensify the level of exploitation of labor. African slaves were traded to two areas of the world: the Western Hemisphere and Islamic lands in the Middle East and India. This had a huge impact on the the western hemisphere because slaveery and slave trade was a form of cheap labor that lead to many other froms of slavery.

Zac F. said...

The fall of Constantinople was by far the most important event in the 1450 to 1750 time period. The fall of Constantinople on Tuesday, 29 May 1453, signified the end of an era, and a city marking that era that had lasted for over 1,100 years, and the begging of a new age. No other single event can even come close to this turning point in this time period and the number of events equal in epicness to the fall Constantinople can be counted on the fingers of two hands.

Thus the first gunpowder empire stamped out the mighty Byzantine empire. Having huge consequences for centuries to come.

The greatest single event from 1450 to 1750.

i also believe the trans-atlantic slave trade was the most significan, not only because it brought life beyond that time period but also because it allowed communication to take and explode. Along with this, comes the things that lead to it, the discovery of the fertail land in the americas. the americas where first colonized by europeans. Europe was a gunpowder empire and along withit also russia. russia expanded and grew from land locked to reaching across the west and east. the americas were like russia at anytime ready to explode into a new place and grow. the world works what i like to think of as a clock. without the constant stability of the trade networks, the people who rely on them, and the empires rellying on those people could crumble. Russias rich trade in the furs was what let them communicate over long distences. all in all, my point is that these places no matter how strong they could be alone, could not have reached what they are now without communication. i considered the trans atlantic because it had constant communication and now the africans who were brought to the carribian island by the settlers, dominate the islands and are the inhabitants. Even now-a-day we rely heavaliy on it. our nation trusts all the different places we are united with to supply us with there goods. if its from stuff made in china to gems from africa, its what we are maintained by and continue to rely on. the clock of it all is how when all these events and many more work together to keep us all good and on our way, but there are those deases in which they did exterminate a population or seriously hurt it but the world is what it is. without the fall of others..how can any place rise and become prosperitable.

Sorry this wasn't sooner the strom knocked out my internet last night :(!

the most important event that occurred between the years 1492 and 1750 was the Colombian exchange. When Europe started to trade with the Americas and take over the natives, the whole world was affected. New crops, animals, and technologies were spreading. The Colombian Exchange brought these new products and ideas all over the world, also at the same time establishing new trading routes. Also, on the negative most native Americans were enslaved and or died out, this changed the demographic of the Americas for Europeans were now the main people controlling it. Europe also traded guns with Africa for slaves to bring over to the Americas. This established new trading with Africa, and allowed Africa to become more centralized and urbanized.
